Passion to Serve
Thank you for your prayers and financial support of MNU's 2018-2019 Passion to Serve project! This year's Passion to Serve project will take our campus community closer to home -- Kansas City.
We are partnering with The Hope Center downtown in their mission of "developing healthy communities where the vulnerable can have hope and flourish." More specifically, we are sending a group of volunteers down to the Hope Center every week to help with The Hope Center's after school program called S.A.Y. Yes! The Hope Center has started the only elementary school in their neighborhood (The Hope Leadership Academy Charter School) and this afterschool program has volunteers to help kids with homework, Bible studies, and just being able to interact in a safe space for a couple of hours after school. So MNU is going to build some relationships with these kids through this after school program!
So we have two different numerical goals for the year: (1) we want to have 500+ hours of total volunteer hours of our students, staff, and faculty volunteering with The Hope Center throughout the academic year. This will be accomplished through the S.A.Y. Yes! program every Friday and through several one time events that we will host in Kansas City and at MNU with THC. (2) We are trying to raise $10,000 to send 50 kids from The Hope Center to Kids Across America (KAA) camp this next summer. Most kids in this socioeconomic group cannot afford to go to camp over summer break, and we highly value the opportunities and love that kids are exposed to at camps like KAA, so we are striving to fulfill this financial goal.
